Getting to Cleveland Pride

Freeway, parking, and bus information

The Pride march and festival are both easy to get to from the Cleveland freeways, and from the RTA bus and rapid system. See above map. It is recommended that marchers park near the festival in the morning, and walk to the march stepoff at East 22nd and Euclid Ave., avoiding a return to the stepoff site after the festival ends. It is about a 20minute walk-or catch the 6 or 6A bus up Euclid.

From the east via 1-90

To the festival: Take I-90 into Cleveland, then follow the Shoreway (Ohio 2 West), labeled "Downtown Cleveland," "Stadium; Amtrak" (Exit 174-B), then get off at the West 3rd St. exit. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp, and follow West 3rd south three or four blocks until just before it ends at Superior. At this point, the Public Square festival site will be visible just beyond a parking lot on the left (east). This lot and nearby garages are $5.00 all day; on-street meter spaces are free on Saturdays. There is no parking on Public Square itself.

To the march stepoff: Follow I-90 into Cleveland, but don't take the Shoreway exit. Instead, continue around the curve with flashing arrows to the Prospect Ave. exit, 173-A. Turn right at the top of the exit ramp. The march gathering area, in a parking lot behind Trinity Cathedral at East 22nd and Euclid, will be visible across other parking lots to the right. These lots are $1 all day Saturday. Onstreet parking is also available.

From the south or west via 1-77, 1-71, or 1-90

To the festival: Follow I-71 or I-77 into downtown where they merge into I-90. Continue on I-90 east to the Shoreway West exit, 174-B, labeled "Ohio 2 West, Lakewood," which comes sharply off the right immedi-

ately after the curve with flashing arrows. Once on Ohio 2 West, follow the route from the east above.

To the march stepoff: Get off I-90 at the Carnegie Ave. exit, 172-D, and turn right (right turn only) at the top of the exit ramp. Turn left at the first stoplight, East 30th; go one block and turn left again onto Prospect Ave. Follow Prospect across the freeway bridge to East 22nd St.; see above directions from the east for parking.

From the northwest via Ohio 2 Shoreway

To the festival: Follow Lake or Clifton Rds. through Lakewood to the Shoreway, Ohio 2. Get off the Shoreway at the Lakeside Ave. exit, turn right at the first stoplight, West 3rd St., and follow directions from the east above.

To the march site: Follow the Shoreway to I-90 West, and take I-90 West to the Prospect Ave. exit, 173-A, then follow directions from the east above.

Public transit

The Regional Transit system uses Public Square, the festival site, as its central hub. Most bus lines and all rapid transit lines stop there; buses that don't go downtown all stop at a Red Line rapid station. All three rapid lines stop at Tower City, on Public Square.

The number 6 and 6A buses go up Euclid Ave. to the stepoff site at East 22nd St. These board at the Prospect Ave. entrance to Tower City on Saturdays or at any stop along Euclid-as do the 51X and 35, which also go up Euclid. The downtown "Loop" buses don't run on Saturdays. Bus fare is $1.25 exact change; $1.50 rapid-get a free transfer from a machine if you plan to ride the bus up Euclid.
